I am looking for a new slow-pitch jigging rod for under $200.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I have been enjoying using Okuma Hawaiian Custom Slow Pitch Jigging Rods - HCSJ-C 63MH with Custom Blue 2-Speed Lever Drag Reel - CBV 5NII Narrow for kayak fishing in Northern California.  I landed many halibuts, lingcods, salmon, and rockfish with this setup, and it is fun to catch with slow pitch rod.

Okuma is no longer manufacturing Hawaiian Custom Slow Pitch Jigging Rods and their replacement model rod, Tesoro Slow Pitch Rod, features spiral wrapped guides.  I have used a spiral wrapped rod before, but prefer conventional guides.

I am currently looking at Shimano Talavera Type Slow J, Saltwater, Jigging, Casting, 6'6", Medium, 1 pcs, (TTSJC66M) for $119.

I tried a Tsunami rod before, but I prefer the Okuma rod.

Hi Dan

I had the same rod before.  Great rod, but I lost it to the ocean several years ago.
Since I already tried this rod, I will let Sonny have it.

Paul. I was torn between two rods.

the Johnny Jigs Elite and the Daiwa Harrier Slow pitch.  I went the the JJ because I wanted to try the spiral wraps and I like how the butt end has an exaggerated split handle.    the Harrier is conventionally guided.  it is a nice rod and I had a chance to put a reel on one with a weight at a shop.  it feels really nice.  and the handle seems to be shorter than the JJ which is nice on a kayak since the handle doenst poke out behind your armpit into the kayak seat.

I think it's $170ish???  might be my next rod for my 2-rod setup.

Thank you for the information.  You have to show me your setup when we go fishing together.
