There was a negative tide yesterday (Tuesday 12/30) at about 145. I was already in the middle of a three day camping trip at Timber Cove so I made the 45 minute journey south to bodega Bay to take advantage of the tides. I’ve been clamming a couple times in the past, but never successfully. Gosh, darn, it is a lot of cold dirty work! I probably dug 15 holes and only got three nice clams. Actually, it was 2 nice clams and one small one, but you dig it you keep it, so I kept it. I would’ve needed a medevac out of the mud flat if I got all 10 clams. It was cold and windy and I sunk shin deep into the mud with every step. It was honestly kind of miserable, but thank goodness I got something to show for it.

Hah medivac. Nice work on those washington clam.

You can probably get 10 gaper longhorse clam out in front of Lawson a lot easier with a tube and shovel. Some holes you can methodically get 2-4 clams in one dig.

Bodega bay clamming is so good!
I went there with garden stick and clam gun with family and had a blast. Came with limit 30 clams for 3 people.
Some of them are even bigger than my hands.
I'll definitely go back there again.

Thanks for the report and doing the recon.

I've been clamming curiose for some time even bought a clam gun and cut the bottom off a bucket but due to the timing and their dirty, cold and wet environment the clams have eluded me.

How you going to eat it?

haha..I did that.  I was a mess, but it was fun.

cooking the clams was a mystery.  I had no idea what parts I could eat and not eat.

I declined invite this time.
