https://www.ksbw.com/article/body-wilder-ranch-identified-family-shark-attack/69875670

Saw this. For those not familiar I gave aid to a kayaker attacked by 18’ shark on 12/13 off arches beach. A week later the swimmer got hit at lovers point and now They recovered the body within a mile of where the kayaker got hit near wilder beach. Which is 20-25 miles from where she was swimming on the other side of Monterey bay. For people with a lot of knowledge of the area do you think it’s possible for the Current to have taken her body to Wilder Beach area From lovers point? Or is it more likely that the shark swam there with the body? I was having a little trouble finding a good map of winter currents in Monterey Bay. It does seem like there is a Current a little off the coast headed north. Included my original report below.

I saw that mentioned. Not sure if they list the actual brand in another article, but it would be nice to confirm if it was sharkbandz. Everything I have read in the past has said shark shieldBattery powered units are way more powerful/effective.

Yes, there is fairly good evidence that Shark Shield works but no evidence that I’m aware of that magnets are of any use.

It does seem like there is a Current a little off the coast headed north. Included my original report below.

There used to be a buoy (known as CDIP) in about 65 fow off of Steamer Lane that measured the current (among many other useful measurements). It showed a consistent current pushing up the coast. However, I don’t know how that would relate to the bay overall.

I found this. The first graph is Monterey Bay Current’s in August. I believe this is surface current. Kind of looks like it might be possible. As everything just outside the bay is curving from south back to north.

I looked for the steamer lane bouy and found out it was decommissioned in 2022. The other bouys are just showing me atmospheric and wave heights. But maybe I’m missing something the noaa site is kind of confusing.

Grateful the family has closure
The uphill current is very strong in the Monterey Bay

As a fellow triathlete, and someone who has also had a great white shark encounter, I am grateful they have located Erica and that her family has some closure. This really hit me hard.

Don't forget the stiff winds from the south during the storm.

RIP Erica

was doing storm clean up outside on Saturday and all the emergency vehicles blasted by my house.
I figured it was a car collision or a chimney fire until I saw the evening news.

I'll tell ya I'm more than ready to put 2025 in the rear view mirror...
