I am a teacher and I have my winter break the last two weeks of the year. I want to spend three days and two nights camping on the beach stocking up on lingcod and rockfish. I’ve done it many times at Timber Cove and I love it there. Is there a similar option in Mendocino? I want to camp right on the beachwith all my gear nearby. I also love that I can drive all my gear right down to the beach. I’ve been to Casper‘s in the past, but I’d rather be right on the beach than tucked back a little bit like you are there. Where can I camp on the beach, drive my stuff down there, and have good visibility if I want to dive?
TIA!

Russian Gulch State Park would be the best option, but it is closed during non-peak season.  Opens from May - Sept. only.
Another option might be camping at the Van Damme beach parking lot or Albion.

I'm not aware of such a place on the Mendocino Coast where you can camp right on the beach and launch from there.

There are four main options here for camping NEAR a beach and with good launches:

- Albion
- Van Damme
- Russian Gulch
- Caspar

Albion you can camp within 100 feet of the launch. Navarro you can camp on the beach but the beach itself is several hundred feet wide and needs relatively calm swell to launch.

Look at Wages Creek campground.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I'm not sure if it's still open for 4x4 and if camping is legal or not, but you can check out Blues Beah north of Fort Bragg:

However, since it looks like more of a surf spot, I'm not sure how safe/easy kayak launching would be there...

Blues Beach is closed.
There is a 110 million dollar Caltrans project to stabilize an hill apparent slide. Trucks have been hauling massive boulders form accosts the state and beyond  to build a sea wall and more ....

Did not know they close.   Website says open with some restrictions.   Couple trails closed.

You can still access the park, becah, trails but the campsites are closed from October - April.
