TB - Crab Report, Cleaning, Cooking, and Buoy Tie Demonstration

Went TB to get some crabs with Eddie.  We both got our limits without much difficulty within 2.5 hours.
Here is a video of how I clean and cook.  In addition, I have a commercial fisherman demonstrating how to tie the crab buoy knot.

Glad you posted... I was chatting with Eddie out there and at the time he mentioned you were already at 9 and he was at 7, and he was hoping his next pot pull would get his limit.... I was wondering if he was right on that one heh.

You guys did better than me, I only had around 5 I think by the time I saw y'all headed back to shore. I stuck around a couple more hours and left with 7.

Great to meetcha!  I’m glad you left with 7.  On that last longer soak pull I only got one.  I had high hopes.  Paul said his pots were so heavy.  I thought it was all the miniatures we kept pulling but I can attest he’s got 20lbs. of rockfish heads and carcasses per pot

I was thinking of Thursday too. Will try to remember to keep my radio on this time, I'm kinda terrible about forgetting to turn it on and I'm weirdly radio-hesitant even when I do remember lol

lol that's funny... honestly I was pulling up hundreds of babies it feels like, and my arms were destroyed.

by the time i quit i actually couldn't have stayed longer if i wanted to, my office worker noodle arms gave out on me.

I too add a good beer to steaming liquid for my crabs as well. I "shuck" them as well. I have had crab butter before, and it was delicious but now refrain from it. I am guessing it is ok in moderation. I have enough health issues as it is.  The only other ingredient I add to my steaming liquid is lemons. Just the fruit and not the peel or seeds.

“We have enough crab,” she continues.
“But but but, what if that’s the last crab I catch all year?  Aren’t we supposed to horde until the commies show up?”
Silence…. 

I'm only running 3 cheap flat hoops. Is it worth it to try for halibut while crabbing? Hooking a Thresher amongst the crab ropes would be a mess. Maybe just a little jigging? Or just concentrate on cleaning the hoops of undersized?
