I was going to go after crabs this morning but decided to play it safe- think I'm going to paddle around the bay and just sightsee with a fishing pole instead of getting my ass handed to me by the Pacific. Anybody have any suggestions on where to go and what to target? I was thinking Benicia or even the delta and don't have any experience with either.

Same here.  Better my plans busted up by wind and waves that my gear and my body.  Was looking at HMB but with small craft advisories into tomorrow, slept in instead.

Prob gonna take the AI out to Elkhorn Slough and try to rip around in some afternoon puffs of wind.  Will leave the fishing gear at home, bonus no need to clean it off today.

Of note, Pacific Mussel season opens today too (quarantine lifted at midnight).  Semi-low tides in the afternoon this weekend might make them accessible.  If you have access to a location that's protected from swell, they're fair game.

Prob gonna take the AI out to Elkhorn Slough ...

At high-ish tide, the bridge is low enough that it might de-mast you. Don't ask me how I know...

oof.  That's a bad day.  AI mast is super easy to bring down and put back up, I execute this maneuver if I am down by the 1 and transiting under the bridge.  Did it look like it was gonna clear for you?

Was down there today.  Nice wind to rip around in.  Plenty of bait around to fill the cooler for the next blue water outing - jack smelt and anchovies.

<snipped> . . . Was looking at HMB but with small craft advisories into tomorrow, slept in instead.

Good choice, HMB was gnarly, one capsized. Photo from Coastside.

Ha, we ended up catching jack smelt and anchovies off of Alameda, too. Wouldn't call them numerous though, just enough to call off the skunk. Beautiful day on the bay. A boat coming back from the ocean said they got limits of crabs.

Talked to a few coming back into Moss landing. Limits were hard to come by evidently. 180-250ft.
