Bought two five year olds their first Zenco fishing rod. Any advice on where on a pond where I can take them which is likely to get some bites. Would like their first time to be fun. Thanks in advance,

I might consider taking them to a trout farm.  I took a group of church kids to a trout farm, and they all had a great time.

I think Lake Sonoma.   go to the main boat ramp.  to the left of it (facing out towards lake) there is a shoreline that is fairly productive for my buds.

not sure what kinda of casting distances you can get with a modern Zebco, but my 6 years old memories are not promising.

I dont know what the water level is right now...

no!  go to the other end.  Yorty Creek!  more small fish, and there is way more shoreline.

Fountain Grove Lake has a lot of panfish and small Bass lot of weeds but you can fish off the dam with worms and bobbers will give you plenty of action.

My kids always had a good time at Lake Ralphine. Fish off the dam. Bobbers and worms for panfish, Powerbait with fish finder rigs for trout. Bring bread, so if you don't catch they can have fun feeding the ducks

Upper Blue lake can be good for trout. Lower blue panfish and small bass.

Lake Mendicino has a lot of small bass and they might hook a monster.

Yorty Creek at Sonoma   can be very good for small bass and Panfish, but with the water level low it can be quite a chore getting kids around. If you go to the main launch it can be great but they would have to cast pretty good. Go to the right and fish off the point, if you go to the left there are a lot of snags.

River Front Park Lake Benoist has a lot of small Bass and lots of Panfish, just keep and eye on the little ones as the access places are sorta steep. I saw some kids to today when walking the dog , they were having a blast withe the panfish.

Feel free to message me for more info
