Can I get a recommendation for a good quality fish stringer clip. I bought a Calissa brand on Amazon but it is only 4mm steel, and seems pretty wimpy for anything other than small trout, and bluegill. I have a 1/4" one that I have been using for years, and even it can get stressed with a bunch of rockfish. I have had to re-bend it several times.

I'm a fan of Pitbull tackle, I thnk they are local also
beefy clip: $20

I bought mine at a fish show, but I'm guessing some local tackle shops carry it also

I also have one of the thin models from Ama-crap, nice for lighter fish.

see ya,
Brian.

That 5/16" heavy duty one might be what you need for halibut over 30". They can pop open some of those other "heavy duty" clips.

Really a bomber clip for $20?

Pit Bull one looks like the one I use, how they put a kink in the rod where the point joins the body of the clip in crucial for assured clippage! Bought mine at Bamboo Reef a dive shop in the city (might no longer be there). Cost me $20 years ago, problem is it's so big in pictures it makes average fish look small and big fish look average.

With these days of internet shopping sometimes it's hard to tell what size an item is....Kokanee gear comes to mind...Looking forward to seeing if the Pit Bull clip is as beefy as it appears.

Thanks for the responses. The one I am currently using has been able to handle the pacific halibut, and the 39" ling without an issue but I don't remember where purchased, or the brand. Since I have 2 kayaks now I want one tied to each so I can limit what I have to move from one to the other.

The Triden 5/16" can hold lots of fish securely.

Nice flex Sonny!
He's yoked wit fish for sure!

Also Joe...I got tore off by a thresher at TB on Tuesday.  Dropped a dead herring and before it hit the bottom there was a peculiar bite so I set and wow!  You da man!  Landing a thresher, let alone 2, is a feat.  I had to get to work so I couldn't play it for 30 minutes or more.  Do they ever get tired?  Every time I drew it up I'd lose massive progress.  I finally beached my yak and tried to muscle it in and my knot broke.  All the surface action was quite fun!  Wish I saw it. :smt006

I’m happy with my pit bull game clip. I have several. I’d love to catch a fish that was so big, my game clip wasn’t strong enough. I don’t see that happening, unfortunately;-). It’s a great clip. And a local company
