 :smt006 Greetings all - It's been a minute.

At 73 and living with Parkinson's for 10 years (knowing about it for 5) I've decided it's past time to hoist anchor and enjoy life sans CCK. It's been fun no doubt, even with the bumps. There is nothing like turning people on to paddle sport, supporting good causes, sponsoring tournaments and sharing smiles along the way. But the time has come, so, if you're young, well off and dumb, CCK can be yours! Contact me back channel at [email protected] Otherwise, if you simply enjoy saving some loot...

...visit us in Jack London Square, Oakland, and lighten your wallet at the Retirement SALE! You can save a minimum of 25% on all fishing accessories including Hobie ($24K worth) and YakAttack. Two Hobie Rev 11s, one new on sale and one used, available. Two Jackson Knarr FDs priced now at $1999, hundreds below cost. Other new and used fishing kayaks have been marked down as well as recreation and touring kayaks. For example, my remaining lightweight Hurricane kayaks are now 20% off. Like to fish from an ultralight canoe? I have a few Wenonahs still on the racks. Tell your friends and help send Tammy and I packin' errrr Fishin'!!!

We're closed Mondays and Tuesdays; open 10-5 Wed thru Sat, 10-4 Sunday. On-line sales at www.calkayak.com

I hope to see you at the shop. Cheers!

Sad to see it close. We have made good use of the store over the years.
I first learned sea kayaking through Cal Adventures in Berkeley. Then in the 90s bought my first kayak at CCK, quickly realized its limitations and upgraded to Neckys for the wife and I. We took 2 or 3 classes through CCK and did a bunch of sea kayaking around the area with a little bit of fishing. Then kids happened and the kayaks gathered dust for years.  (Although we did make decent use of a canoe). Then I found out rather late to the party about Hobies and mirage drives and kayak fishing. Bought an i9, then finally sold the Neckys and got an Outback and later a Lynx. All were purchased from CCK except for the canoe. Retail can be a tough business. I hope someone can pick it up.

Enjoy a well earned retirement. It is sad to see you go. I hope someone takes you up on your offer! Your shop got me in to kayak fishing, which has been great for me. Even better when the fish bite.

I visited that shop and asked myself the question, "what if..?"

now I am addicted. I hope and wish for you the best retirement ever.  you have influenced a lot of souls.

I am going to approach the wife about roadtripping to Oakland tomorrow to visit your shop.  if you're there, expect a fist-bump.  :D

Enjoy retirement!  I hope you find a great buyer to continue the legacy you have built. CCK has been a great resource for me for gear, knowledge and good chuckles in my 12 years yakking. Cheers!

Dang! I would be interested, but I only meet 1 of the 3 criteria...
