I have had a tough year dealing with a new Boss at work. He is not a bad guy off the job and an OK number cruncher but has little practical experience and is terrible dealing with people. Last week I told him this story and at first he laughed then he looked embarrassed and waked away, but in the last week his attitude has improved big time. I don't expect it to last but you never know :smt012

Defendant (after being sentenced to 90 days in jail): Can I address the
 court?
 Judge: Of course.
Defendant: If I called you a son of a bitch, what would you do?
Judge: I'd hold you in contempt and assess an additional five days in
 jail.
Defendant: What if I thought you were a son of a bitch?
Judge: I can't do anything about that.  There's no law against
 thinking.
Defendant: In that case, I think you're a son of a bitch.  :smt044

There happens to be a real good book on this subject. It's called "The Courageous Follower" by Ira Chaleff. I was forced to read it for a class I took on ethics and leadership. It's a good book.

CHEERS!

No No! It's for YOU to read so you can deal with HIM! Or you could just hit him in the head with it.........

Boss? I'm the boss! There are some advantages to getting old, such as retiring! :smt003

Have you tried the circus?

Are you advertising open positions for the organization you work for?

Lol....bosses....

Direct report is a roller coaster ( good and bad ) that wants me off her team but knows she can't fire me so she is pushing hard to get me promoted, the next level report is from outer space ( thinks my smart 'arse' responses are really well thought ingenious ideas), the VP states his opinion of me that I like it that people think I am hard ass at work, but he loves the fact that people that know he is one!

At least my direct subordinates are trained that I am alwayed to fall asleep during 5 hr conference calls and they are to wake me if something important is said.

Ahhh the corporate world.
