I will be meeting Scotty and DarthBaiter at Russian Gulch this Saturday.  This Saturday's weather looks good. Other NCKA anglers are welcome to join.  I will be arriving around 6:30 AM.  If you arrive late, just call on Ch. 69.

Did you get the pass online?
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

no.  I happen to drive past the State Office in Penngrove yesterday.

I usually do buy it online, but I needed it quicker.   not sure putting a copy of my receipt on the dash would qualify.  :D

Fished there last weekend, caught six blacks. It was so clear I could sight cast to schools of blacks.

I had high expectations for today since the bite was very good yesterday.  I went to the same spots, but it was slow.
After working a long day, I got two lings, one vermilion, one canary, one black, and three blues.
However, I had a great time fishing with Scotty and Cliff.

in my very humble newbie opinion it was slow fishing for Lings for me.  I had 3 sub-legal fish.

but I had blues all over me.  I had to desend many.

super fun.  the ocean was friendly.  FLAT almost. the super gentle rolling made my stomach churn more than a rougher sea.  odd.  I got over it.

and I learned it is important to let the weighted rig go..I dropped a sabiki rig and the lead weight sent it fast, and a hook BURIED into my finger.  I tried to pull it out and it was shocking how tight and firm it held.  I had to use my pliers. haha.. bleeding is self-cleaning, so I let it go for a bit.

I met Scotty!!  cool, and fun.  he regaled the parking lot by singing us a song!!  I think the park lady was crushing on him.  :D

thanks gentlemen.

I was tired.  fish cleaning, gear cleaning, self cleaning...then a late dinner with the wife after delivery of some fresh fillets to friends.

After catching 2 vermilions, 6 large blacks, and a lingcod with an octopus the day before, I was not happy with just catching one vermilion.

DarthBaiter(Cliff) and I had a great visit with Paul up in Mendo Saturday! Conditions were superior and so was the company!
Only problem was a bit of a slow bite!
But we managed..
My fish of the day was a 15” sole! Not sure what kind but looked a bit like a sand dab! Caught it about  a half hour after we launched.
Hey Moo, I got sole! Finally!!!
And that fish was so good when we had it for dinner, pan fried with butter and simple flour coating, salt, pepper and garlic… amazing!

Since fishing was slow, Paul( the awsome guy he is) shared his catch with Cliff and I  and we certainly appreciated that Paul, Thanks again!
And of course , a little Fish Porn!
Tight Lines,

Hey Scotty!

Most Sole I have caught tend to be Sand Sole because I fish shallow. Yours looks a little different but might be a Sand Sole. How deep did you catch it?

You find a weird water bug on that sole?   Looked kinda like a garden “rolly-polly “?
