My Two Mentors – Kayak Fishing

For the last 8 years, I have gotten help from many great NCKA members.  From all those, I have two special mentors.

First is MooMoo, who got me into kayak fishing and showed me the way.  He took me to many different spots, Timber Cove, Fort Ross, ARW, HMB, Big Sur, Monterey…  I learned all my rockfishing skills from him and am still learning.

The second is Eddie, who showed me how to catch halibut.  We made trips together to Chrisy Field, Paradise, and TBay.  With his teaching, I got many halibuts.  He made many extra trips to purchase and catch live bait.

Thank you, MooMoo, Eddie, and all other NCKA members who eagerly provided assistance.

Thank you Paul. You've always been great friend on and out of the water.  I'm a bit of a introvert so I don't usually approach people but when they approach me I'm always willing to help. You taught me lobster hooping, assisted me when I had a medical episode and you've always been very generous. I greatly appreciate it. I now rely on your fishing reports and in need of your guidance in Mendo coast.

Now YOU have your own set of mentees, me included! Thanks for always being so generous with your knowledge. I make plenty of mistakes but less so when I ask your advice.

I am still a newbie but now I want to pay it forward, too, some day. I guess that is one of the best things about NCKA.

About 3 years ago, you talked me through the logistics of parking/launching/fishing La Jolla.   Despite never having even met in person (I don't think anyway), you passed all your knowledge about that place, and I really appreciate that.  Thank you again Paul.

Yeah thank you Paul for all you've helped me with, and the general kindness. Same with Eddie! And all the others that have reached out and shared stuff with me, and just the general help and sharing on the forum boards. That's the best thing about NCKA - a great sense of community, helping others, etc.

Brahhdah' Paul will never claim master...once masterclass level is achieved time to start a new sport...IMHO...the fish are often da teachah'.
