I can do it all day long in my living room or garage.  bobbing out on the ocean.  debatable.

pinching a sharp tip point on the dropper loop to fit thru a hook eye is interesting.. not that fun, and time spent staring at it kinda makes me nauseous.  :D

I need bigger hook eyes!  or maybe a piece of line to pull it thru?  pinch it tight with my teeth? tips?

I used to run into this problem when surf fishing at night back east.  If you turn a white light on in the surf back there, you're likely to have someone who wants to throw fists coming up pretty quickly.  I can tie an improved clinch knot completely blind, so when I couldn't get the dropper loop through the eye at night, I'd snip one leg of the dropper loop near the knot and tie the hook on instead.  Not the best solution, but works in a pinch.

I feed the hook on the line first, then tie the dropper. Don't know if its weaker or stronger but it works :smt102
A jerk at one end of the line waiting for a jerk at the other end.

I think this is how most pre-tied rockfish setups are tied too.  Shrimp flies and such.

The high-low dropper loop rigs I use all the time are 30 lb mono pinched and pushed through a bead and hook eye. Pretty easy with 2/0 straight shank bass pro house hooks. The eyelets on the 3/0 size are very big and easy, but I prefer the 2/0 and can do the line pinch&push thing on ‘em with my eyes closed.

I’ve pulled really hard on big fish with this rig with good results.

The real trick is to tie a crap ton of rigs at home so you aren’t doing that sort of thing on the water.

How do y'all carry your leaders?  I've tried a bunch of different methods: leader wallet, foam leader roll thing, ziploc bags, just balled up and stuffed into a tackle box...

Nothing seems to fit how I want it or be quite as useful as it seems it should be.

Problem is exasperated when the hooks are tied on as well.

I use foam “sticks “ and wrap them around and pierce the hooks in.  Total Hail Mary

Yes, any tangles on leaders with hooks already tied on is frustrating - can't just tug to free it cause I don't wanna end up with a hook in my finger, haha

So, the leader wallets I've used have probably been the best solution, but they are soft sided, which is not ideal for kayak use, and the pockets aren't large enough for saltwater sized rigs - #2 trebles are pretty bulky and tend to poke holes in the pockets.

I haven't found one specific for saltwater kayak fishing - hard sides, big tough pockets, floating, etc.

I’ve successfully used a small mono line spool to wind leaders on, end to end (single hooks or snap swivels only). I cut a slit in the spool to hold the line or use a rubber band to retain the outside leader.

Leaders with trebles get their own individual 8 mil plastic bags (I use these on the motos to keep important things dry, too).  Leaders with regular hooks get wound up, tied with a half of a garbage bag wire twist tie, then put into old electrical tape containers (about 3" diameter transparent containers).

I like this one.
