I went without much hope today. Line in water by seven just north of Hog. Outgoing tide so drift and jig the swimbait. Off Tom's point I got a good reel ripping grab which I thought was a bat ray at first but then it turned and came back toward me the veered let then back and the hook fell out. Bat rays never shake the hook so I'm guessing striped bass. Keep drifting and see a guy in a tinny land a nice hali near the last marker before the bar. I keep going and at the bar turn and the tide does to and the change in current plus ocean swell made things gnarly for awhile. Resumed fishing. Passed guy who caught earlier and he was washing his net while another halibut was tail drumming the aluminum. I keep going. I can't catch fish that were caught. PB's buzzing like bees back from bar and to bar and everywhere else. Get a good takedown but off quickly. Finally south of Tom's point I get a bite that sticks and gaff and string it. I don't try to go back. Too much inflow to fight. Finally off of White Gulch just before I'm ready to quit I get a good one and hope it stays. Up down, up down but finally color and it comes in smooth to to kayak and I do get a clean shot with the gaff then string and tie off while gaff is still in the head then take my other gaff  and thump several times. By now the wind has pushed me to Hog so I tow fish to the launch area. Small  one was 28-29 inches. Dog is reporting me to humane society after enduring wind and for for 6 hours.

Go Charles!  You caught the only wind tolerant window of the week and the next few many days!  Good stuff! :smt006
