Starting last year, I’ve been putting a storage bin in my rear tank well to hold fish and gear. The prototype has been progressing, but it was slurred by accusations of packing tape construction. You know who you are, and I have been taking fish out of your secret spot!!  :smt006 :smt005 :smt044

Anyway, the custom rod holder is only for light rods like what I use to catch baits. It now also holds my bilge pump out of the way and has spots for two basic homemade stringers, scissors, and a 22.5-inch measuring stick on the side that I made with my kid.

This thing holds my bait rod, swimbaits, squids, trash, fish, whatever. When the plastic gets old and brittle, I will made an even better one.

Oh and it’s made using duct tape from NASA

Hey, if it works and is your own creation, be proud of yourself.

This post put a big smile on my mug! An earlier post of yours showed a fish in this hi-tech bin, and I almost said something about the tape and other things I saw, but kept my mouth shut. You said it all for me! Hooray for you, if it works, so what? Keep on keeping on!

Obviously, this is fishing tech at the highest level, and I can't believe that anybody would have questioned it--must be some real jerks on this site!

As long as it works and you enjoy using it, continue to use it.  You outfish most other fancy kayakers already.

I would suggest using the double size milk crate, but that won't hold water  :smt005. As a fellow creator of the weird and wonderful :smt044, I commend you! Who knows, Luther Cifers might see this and incorporate it into the next black pack crate!  :smt007
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

that's a thing of beauty!   is that a lucky die?
funny, I've been thinking about my old school milk crate in the attic, the new stuff is nice, but it is fun to craft if yourself.

Nice work! I think home-made accessories are awesome - really let's you dial in exactly how you want it to function.

It looks like your kid deserves a lot more credit than just helping you out with the measuring stick!  :smt044

Hey, is it anchored to the well? Will it float if it goes into the water?

Not anchored but has flotation in the corners. And any big fish get a string through the gills and tied to the boat bungee so they won’t be lost if things go sideways.
