Info is a bit limited but things obviously got overheated in Moss Landing. It’s a reminder to take it easy out there; it’s not important enough to come to blows. Be patient. Slow down. Try not to call that so-and-so a so-and-so even if they are. Better to fight online!

I sure wanted to tell some power boaters over the years that just because you’re one foot past the no-wake zone, it doesn’t mean you’re required to be a jerk and throw big wakes at tiny boats just trying to get out of the way when a few additional seconds of patience make a big difference. Letting it go has been the better option, but a crash might take someone to the point of bad judgement.

Anyway, one guy is gone and the other probably has a lot of nonfishing time ahead of him. Awful.

I wonder how they both ended up in the water. Maybe they collided due to fog?

Anyways, I've seen some crazy things from power boaters but, fortunately, nothing comparable to this...

I was threatened on a website that I won't name. All because I mentioned descenders and people not descending fish. I mentioned I didn't even call fish and game. In retrospect??

I no longer belong to that website. :smt004
I do just fine without them.

Definitely an unfortunate situation where tempers got the best of them.

This video shows the guy being arrested and his friends saying he acted in self-defense.

I think the only problem with that is that he left the scene while the guy was in the water. No bueno. Going to cost him a lot of time and money. Just an assumption. Either way, a terrible outcome.

Not positive, but word is that they were commercial halibut guys.

I'm calling it murder. the bad guy's been around for a short while, less that a few years. he's spread bad vibes, revenged on people with vandalism like spiking tires in the parking lot, generally been a kook and always confrontational.

He was giving Trenten a bunch of shit out on the water the morning, and they agreed total it back to the dock. They hit the jaws, Bad guy t-boned Trenten's skiff way out and pinned it to the jetty. Trenten leaped into the other guy's boat and blows were struck. Bad guy started using wood club on Trenten (oar?) Both guys went in the water. Bad guy got out of water first, and continued beating trenton till he split. leaving Trenten in the water likely unconscious. Murder. Bad guy instigated whole thing and has been a jerk to everyone down there. A closed knit community, guess he felt disrespected. He's flash gang signs and shit like that when arguing about "my Spot" shit. Alleged to be a constant disturbance of the peace at the harbor the pat year or so.  Trenten wa the absolute nicest sweetest kid with the biggest sunny smile .I met him when he was around 14 dock rat at Captiola Pier. He'd just pulled in a flattie off the wharf. Really humble, and just good. Tragedy should never have happened.

Thank you for giving us the inside story, Bushy.  Very sorry that we could not stop the guy before he committed murder.

Bushy’s report makes it sound like there were witnesses, but if so, why was the victim left in the water? Might be difficult to get a conviction, unless there are eyewitnesses…

The witnesses were on land (and there is a video of it) minus a kayaker who didn't arrive on scene until after Trenten had drowned
