I am searching for a truck bed extender to transport kayak with my Maverick.   Looking at a T-bone curved truck bed extender but not sure if it's worth it with that price tag.  Anyone here own this one here?  Love to hear your opinions.

I have the cheap Harbor Freight bed extender.  It works well enough, but it is literally a square pipe connected to another square pipe at a 90d angle, and I scrape the road going into my (not steep) driveway.  Driveways are the only place I scrape.  I don't use it very often, but it has carried some pretty serious lumber without any problems.

I have a 5.5' bed F150, and carry up to 12' kayak without bed extender, FWIW.

I have had good luck with the Malone, no issues at all, can probably find for about $130

good comment below about storage during parking.  I remove mine and toss it in the bed while I"m fishing - so it's not in the way of other folks. It literally takes like 1 minute.

I also use the Harbor Freight extender on my Ram 1500. Sometimes it will get a little scrape on the driveway.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.  The Maverick has a 4.5ft bed and I installed a retractable tonaut so I lost another 10" because of this.  I need a long extender and the one from Habor Freight only extends 3ft so it probably won’t work for me.  I have Rei's membership so right now that option looks attractive to me.   Once again,  thank you all for the suggestions and tips.

I have one you are welcome to. Just have to come get it. I'll dig around tonight and measure it. I think its one of the strait bar type,
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Not an endorsement of this device, but to give some reference. Here is a pic of the 13.5' Santa Cruz Raptor in my bed. 5.5' bed, HF extender.

If I was gonna use it a lot, I would get one that curves upward from the hitch to the crossbar, so I don't scrape on my driveway. Overall though, it was a lot cheaper than the others, and it is pretty sturdy.

I got tired of having to lift the kayak onto the racks of my fairly tall truck and decided to buy the extender.  I went with the Yakima.

I haven't used it yet, but I'm pretty impressed with the build and with the looks.   No time to use it this week, maybe next.

That Yakima Long Arm extender looks like a great product.
You might be able to save a few bucks during one of REI annual sales.
