My friend and I are planning on launching out of Moss Saturday and Sunday for the salmon season. Any tips on finding where they are at and what to look for? I am planning on running a flasher to an apex spoon and I also have krippled anchovy rigs if that isn't working. Thanks for any info!

I’ve gotten quite a few on the edge of the canyon about a mile to a mile and a half past the mile buoy out there, on the pajaro side. I also caught a 12lber on accident last year in June trolling the other side of the canyon in 85 ft while going for halibut. I’ve also seen guys get em right after the green can. All depends where the bait is. If the season is still open on Sunday I’ll be out there on the kayak. Btw you can park on the other side of the jetty away from the boat ramp for free and won’t have to deal with the crowd when trying to launch you just have to wheel your kayak down 50yards or so. Don’t know if you’re familiar with the area or not. Anyway good luck out there and be safe!

Look for congregations of boats and listen to channel 11.

Why would the season not be open Sunday? My understanding is they need more time to check quotas so this Sat/Sun are guaranteed, but the next months are not.

I was just assuming they would have accurate numbers for Saturday if hit the 7k I figured they’d shut it down Sunday. But if that’s not the case I’m all for it.

Just a warning if you’re planning on parking in the dirt lot for Kayak Connection they are planning on towing cars that are not renting from them.

Anything specific? We only take people into the Elkhorn Slough to see wildlife. I also do fishing clinics through them out of the SC harbor. We’re not allowed to take people into the ocean in Moss.

Thanks for the report. What areas and depths were you trying?

Went out to the mile buoy. Then followed the edge of the canyon for 3-4 miles. Fished from 30 feet down to 80 feet. Found bait and marked a few fish but nothing bit (except for a mackerel).

Nothing to report from Marin. Had to really time the launch and landing but no yard sales so that is a victory for me. Lost my 2nd water to a wave at the launch.

From the report at Bayside, it sounds like salmon fishing was really slow. The did mention that mackerel were everywhere…
