That seems like a killer day at SCR!  I didn't think any trout were still in there!  Great variety of catches, congrats!  They are allowing kayaks to launch there?

Yes! They do an inspection to make sure it isn't wet, since there's something going on with invasive golden mussels or something. Very painless process!

That's the reservoir I grew up with. We could hike over the hills from our house in the burbs - a bit of an adventure for a group of kids.
I think there should be plenty of holdover trout. Stevens Creek is a year-round small trout stream, so it provides some spawning habitat.
There were no spotted bass in there back in my day, but they are a good candidate for reservoirs with fluctuating water levels.

Stevens Creek is actually a misspelling as it was named after Elisha Stephens, who successfully led a party over Donner Pass (he was always miffed about the naming) before the Donner Party, without losing anyone. He had a farm on the creek - now Blackberry Farm. He moved to Bakersfield after he thought the Santa Clara valley was getting too crowded! I think he died poor.

Thank you for the history lesson! One of the locals told me it was rare catching a trout since the last time the reservoir was stocked was 2009!
