I was able to get up to 8.6mph in the Stealth 530 last weekend at ARW fishing for halibut. I had a big live smelt on the line when something big smacked it hard and took off. At first I was sure it was a big ray but tightening the drag all the way didn't slow it at all.

Got up to 8.6mph, and then it broke the surface, and could see it was a seal. Cut the line, and hopefully since I don't use stainless hooks they will corrode away quickly.

That's the stuff!  Crazy, I was picturing you all yoked Hawaiian style paddling like a warrior... :smt006

You could beat NWM in a race using that sea lion power  :smt044

It's a scary thought that sea lions can probably run me down...

Probably? According to Marine Mammal Center:
“California sea lions are very fast swimmers, reaching speeds of 25 miles per hour in the ocean.”

When I bought my Stealth I watched all the YT vids of people claiming rather impressive speeds.  This is one report I believe!  LOL

You were lucky you were not in the harbor in a no wake zone with a revenue hungry harbor master, judge rolling his eyes as you pled your case. :smt001
