I'm picturing a bazillion powerboats launching from the local harbors on those 2 summer weekends...

yeah for sure... plan accordingly

It’s gonna be combat fishing

I honestly think it will be scattered.  The way the season is, it doesn't really give people time to scout and I'm sure this will make people even more tight lipped about any salmon being caught on the first day of the weekend. And lets be real, would it be any different than any other years when there's a hot bite?  Its an just absolute shit show regardless.  People go bonkers for salmon. :smt044

My main concern is boats coming out of the harbor at morning launch time. A couple weeks ago, a lot of sporting so-and-sos were flying out of the harbor putting out big disruptive wakes first thing, going right by and between me and other small boats with no consideration. And it wasn’t even much of a day to be out there, just a cold slow day in April. Give ‘em a reason, and everyone with a motor will be rushing to get their salmon on.

Took me ten years to catch one legal Salmon, doubt I'll get another one in a two day window and if they're that threatened it seems kinda wrong. However given kayaks can launch many places it takes boats a fair bit of time to get to, the short window and boaters tendency to bunch up especially when going for salmon there is likely to be some ocean space left between the clumps of boats.

Gonna be a Shit Show is right. I'll pass and wait to see if inland fishing is allowed. If so, I'll be up at Klamath and fishing the Spit and Glen.

Should just be illegal to keep any unclipped fish on assumption it’s wild

And disallow use of electronics

Will be mayhem if they do this

It’ll be a good day to beach launch for sure

It pretty clear that boaters never really liked kayakers for whatever reason, and now with all those idiot youtubers blowing up their spots, they're going to be even less considerate for sure.  It sucks, but it is what it is and we just need to make sure we don't get ran over by those idiot boaters.

With such specific windows I hope the swell and wind cooperate.  Get ready for thick foggy misty mornings with sharks everywhere.  I can’t believe I just adjusted my haircut book all the way through September 30th.  If my wife asks about what I’m thinkin’ bout, good chance “salmon” might be a common default.  How do I catch one?  I’m prolly gonna blow the whole season slow pitching or mooching when a slow troll seems to be the standard technique.  If you don’t get that chovy roll just right though you may as well watch fishing videos.😂  Hope I use the right color flasher or do I use a dodger?  How long should my leader be?  Can I gaff em’?  Do they like live bait?  Hmmmm….i better go catch some halibut so I don’t get confused. :smt006

I would imagine slow pitching up a salmon has to be a rush.

My best (2) salmon catch was at , Abion. Yes, in my boat !  Down rigger with anchovie rotary killer. Best fighting salmon i have ever caught. Running up,down, side to side and so on. I remember, Akuma trying to pull up close to me in his kayak to watch the action. I was like, look out! This one is wild.

Hopefully see ya on the water this year eddie.

What a great year for salmon

Yay Alex!  Gotta figure out how to get side by side.  I’d have to do Santa Cruz or Monterey kayak event.  I’ll prolly focus on Bolinas and depending on da underground wire, HMB or Pacifica.  Rotary Killer…I have boxes of salmon gear styles…they all work and they all don’t.   :smt005  Hope to see you on da wattah fo’ shuah! :smt006

I'm excited to have a chance to try.

Early June is a tough time for kayak salmon in this area though. Fish tend to be far offshore, and without reports to get you started it is a big ocean.
