Alright the tease is over  :smt005

"There we were, all sitting there chatting away and enjoying our little mini fish and chill" Rev was taking a little slumber, Kiel had stuffed everyone with a bunch of delicious meat, Tiny was telling crazy stories, Dustin and his family had brought even more meat to eat. Ron was on the water slaying some salmon... it was you know, the best of times.

When all of a sudden I heard someone say I think there is a fish on that pole, and I look over and see one of my two trout rods bent the heck over and I ran and grabbed it from it's holder and set the hook.  Immediately I could tell this was a huge fish and it had struck my old faithful Shakespeare 4ft trout rod, with 4lb test and a gamakatsu single egg snelled hook, a used leader from the last time I went trout fishing.  :smt005 I let it run with drag and kept tension the whole time, the tiny rod bent over like a Shakespeare advertisement  :smt044

It took a while, what seemed like an eternity, but really like 10 mins I guess, to tire this fish out and then start trying to get it to come in.  It was staying down deep, but I would pull it up and reel down and let the rod absorb the head shakes.  Soon it got near the surface and I thought for sure it was a huge carp, but then someone higher up said it's a HUGE catfish before I could even see it clearly. My buddy Kiel had grabbed his net and was waiting for me to bring it closer.  It finally got up to to the surface and I risked it and horsed it in closer for the net. It didn't look like it would even fit, but it got swooped up and we ran it up to the grass where I could get some pictures of it.

While taking pics the leader snapped right at the hook.  With some pliers I easily retrieved it, perfectly lip hooked and easy to remove.  Some more pics of me holding it, happy as can be I was blessed with such a incredible catch.  My personal best for sure, although I didn't take time to weigh or measure it, and I took it back down to the waters edge and cleaned it up and it swam away good and strong.

What a fun time this weekend chilling with my bros.  I feel truly blessed, I cant believe my luck!  :smt003

That would have been awesome if it would have been recorded but sometimes that takes the Spontaneity out of the moment. Would have been awesome to see. Its karma bro, you deserved it. Nice job on the release.
