Florida Trip

Well I guess I’m very competitive in a passive aggressive way and Eric’s post about hand feeding the tarpon triggered my FOMO. So I jumped on a plane to Miami and drove down to Robbie’s in Islamorada. Had some food and paid the fee to get a bucket of Ballyhoo and fed the tarpon.
But oh shit,  Eric also attended a wedding!
Still in the grips of social media FOMO, I drove around the outer Miami area looking for a wedding I could crash. I found matrimonial proceedings involving a Cuban-American and Chilean couple and was able to blend in with my fragmented Spanish. My dance moves to Despacito impressed all, and needless to say this smoking Chinella is flying home with me.

If you'd taken an Uber from Miami International to Islamorada from 1 to 230AM it'd be a little more impressive.     I don't recommend it, but it wasn't too bad not having a car in Islamorada - we hung out with my SIL and BIL in their rented electric Mustang. 

I liked your photos of Espanola Way.  I would've liked having more time to check out Miami area - maybe another year.

Miss that place!  Every Florida trip, I'd grab a bite and feed the tarpon at Robbies, such a nice view on the drive there.

Before the tarpon stop we also did the Pennekamp snorkel tour -still a bargain at $50 for 2.5 hrs. The reef is only about 25% of what it was in the late ‘70s.

My last trip to the key, we dove for Lobsters and also caught lots of Dodo's.

All this Florida talk makes me want to go again! I’ve only been once to Miami and didn’t get to fish nearly as much as I wanted.

I didn’t get to fish at all. I was looking at Peacock trips but couldn’t fit one in. As we were driving out, stopped at a light, a guy walked across the intersection with a live bait dangling from is rod. He dropped it over the other side of the canal bridge but the light turned green before he hooked anything.
