I wanted to introduce you to Lightning Kayaks, a newer brand that’s making waves in the kayak fishing world. They recently sponsored USA Kayak Fishing and provided boats for us at the Pan Am Games—and I have to say, I was really impressed.

Some of you may be familiar with Tim Niemier, the legendary designer behind Ocean Kayak—well, he’s the designer behind Lightning Kayaks, too. And if you watch Field Trips with Robert Field on YouTube, you’ll recognize Robert Field, who’s handling sales and marketing for this small but passionate team.

Lightning was founded in 2018, but the team behind it has 40+ years of experience in kayak design, engineering, and manufacturing. Their Nomad model is built for versatility, blending speed, stability, and maneuverability. It’s fast enough to reach offshore spots, stable enough for standing casts, and nimble for navigating tight areas.

The Nomad features the Freedom Drive pedal system, (hobie-style) which mimics a penguin’s swimming motion for smooth, efficient propulsion. It has an intuitive steering lever and a well-designed hull that handles a variety of water conditions with ease.

Lightning Kayaks is running a 25% off March Madness sale! That means the Nomad, normally $2,199, is now just $1,645.25. If you’ve been looking for a high-quality pedal kayak, this is a rare chance to get one at a huge discount—especially if you’re on the West Coast, where they’re still pretty rare.

Personally, Seafoam is my favorite color, but they’ve got other options too. Check out the Nomad and their other models at www.lightningkayaks.com Just wanted to share this killer deal—hope to see more of these on the water soon!

+1 for Lightning, as I also had the opportunity to ride one at the PanAms.  In fact, I'm thinking of getting one myself.  Solid kayak at a solid price.

Looks and sounds like a winner.  I might end up pedaling before too long...
