I’m excited to get back into kayak fishing.  My 15 year old son is also interested. We are looking into pedal kayaks. What brand should we look at.

It depends on where you plan to fish and the type of fish you like to catch.  The most popular one is Hobie.  I currently own two of them, Outback and Oasis.

Welcome to the community.  The Hobie Outback is very popular, but there are a number of pedal-driven kayaks available.  Since the Hobie Mirage drive is now over 10 years old, I believe other companies are able to copy the design.  There are also pedal systems that power a prop-style drive, but they're not as sought after as the Hobie models.

I like the simplicity of paddling, personally.  There's no rudder to fuss with and no drive that can break down - just me and my paddles (I keep an extra in the hull).

Try to do a demo day or two, where you can test out different models.  Finding a good fit and not settling for a cheap model = common advice here.

Another piece of advice:  get ready for the sport to become part of your lifestyle.
