Pretty sure GS6 had decent weather.

Watch me lose a gigantic ling after I terribly fumble the first lip grip attempt and it lets go of the lure at the last possible second. From GS6.

The rainy day tournament was GS5.  Here’s a picture of the hog trough I got that day.

I think it was GS7 when the big Black Bear was terrorizing us in the campground.
Ate my tortillas and destroyed my ice chest.

It’s GS5. Looking back at the GS5 May 15, 2011 thread and reading about the wet cold weather and seeing pictures of Darius and my pacific halibuts caught confirms it for me.

Pacific halibut come in closer at Shelter Cove than anywhere else along the coast.

Randall / Bigfoot's 51" 60 pounder caught on the day after GS? was the biggest caught by GS anglers over the years.  Not quite sure how many have been caught, but I know it started with Domenic's 30 pounder from out near the Whistle at GS3.  I was so blown away - I didn't even realize it was a possibility before that happened.  Pacifics have won the competition twice - Mr. Mayes and Big Terry own that distinction.  Several others have been caught during the tourney weekends.

A few summers back, when salmon was still open, I was busy with guiding down at the Cove, and I was keeping close track of the big flatties caught close to port.  That summer - I think it was 2022 - there were at least 6 picked up in around 50', between the lighthouse and around the middle of the line between the Bell and the Whistle.  MarkL got one of those, and I think it was one of the only bites of the day - that's how it can go.

The day Matt caught his beautiful Pacific Halibut my brother caught this big ling.  I caught nothing but minnows that day and I had to listen to my brother tell me how he kicked my butt for a whole year.

A guy in an inflatable caught this 65 pounder last summer. He was kind  enough to share a little bit of his catch with me.

Pebble Beach (Crescent City) and Whaleshead (Boardman scenic corridor) are similar.  Shelter cove has a protected launch so it’s easily the more accessible option.  I need to go get another one, it’s been a minute.

Finally!  It's been a challenge getting time with both my artist and my shirt guy, but things are finally lining up - knock on wood!

Here are some very basic mock-up's I did on Paintbrush - waiting on better ones from shirt guy.

The tournament T's will be on a Gildan Soft Style - modeled after my favorite t-shirt that I bought from the Yurok Tribe at a Science On Tap night last year.  I've included the Gildan color chart here, because you can request a shirt color.  If you've already registered and/or bought gear, feel free to contact me to make a change or add to your order.  My phone number is at the bottom of every one of my posts.  If I answer like an old lady, that's just how I fuck with the constant BS marketers!   :smt005

The Gyotaku shirts will be white and will have plenty of room to print fish.

The tournament t's will be blue ("Heather Sapphire", maybe...).

The long sleeve and hoodies will be black.

All of the pieces will have the same front pocket art as last year, but the red lettering will be blue, and the white lettering will be black on white pieces, and vice-versa.

I'd love to do hats again, but it may have to wait until next year - stay tuned.

Please feel free to provide feedback and/or ask questions.
