Is dusty basic new with labels still on it

The blade that’s in it now is for ferrous metals and so after a quickly aborted attempt to cut aluminum last night will need a steel brush to a few teeth

Did you try a standard fine tooth wood blade for aluminum?  Sounds a little counter-intuitive at first, but it usually works fine.  Aluminum is softer than many hardwoods...

I’ve done that on one of my other saws. I probably have other blades but couldn’t find them

It turned out to be a good fail because I changed the plan and ended up not needing to cut down the piece

I've cut lots of aluminum (up to 1" thick) with my chop saw. I always clamp it and, of course, eye and ear protection are a must.
I don't like stuff that sucks.
