Just wonder anyone launch from the HalfmoonBay Francis Beach (or other beachs) parking/Campground? Launch from this location will be shorter distant to paddle than from the Habor.

We did a launch from Poplar beach earlier this year.  You're right it's way closer to the Ritz and some of the nice fishing grounds around there.  The access to the launch at Poplar involves a Pigeon Point style approach but not too bad if you have some help.  We launched on a day with little surf/swell making it pretty pleasant.

Likely more challenging in the Winter as that area picks up North and Northwest swell.  Pretty protected from South swell so OK in the Summer.
I've never done either- just a surfer who likes to yak too!
Old orange Malibu XL Two :)

Great! I just bought a Stealth 475 for this surf launch purpose. Maybe I will join you and others next year. I just want to have fun kayaking in the ocean, clean and healthy. Yes, Polar Beach has stairs to go down and Francis Beach also seems easy to take the kayak to the beach.
