Hi - Does anybody want to join me to go crabbing at Doran / Bodega Bay on opening day, Sat 11/2 (conditions permitting)? I'll be camping at the Bodega Dunes Campground with a bunch of cub scouts (I'm a fearless Den leader in addition to being salty kayaker).  My plan is to launch first thing in the morning and catch limits right away ;-)

I thought it would be great to have a crab feed for the kids (and parents)!

Best,
Stewart

If you’ve never done the opener before there will be about a quadrillion kayaks and boats out there. You shouldn’t have any problems finding somebody to crab with.

I’ll most likely be there along with a large number of other Ncka members.

Where were you planning on launching from?

Oh great. I have no idea where to launch from or where to go. I’ve never been there before.  It just happens to coincide with the Cub Scout camp out. So I figured I’d make the most of it. Id love any suggestions you have.

Could be fun to try snaring from the beach with the Scouts...

Yes that’s a great idea. We did a snare session at baker beach last year. But I don’t have good rods for that, unfortunately. But we may do some of that. But I’d also love to do some crabbing from my ‘yak as well.

Last year went out to Doran just to watch the crabbing from shore..... it looked like you could hop scotch accross the boats yaks and ??? all the way past the Jetty and half way down the beach.... and many different type watercraft.... saw a guy out in a huge blowup swan....wtf.

Too many folks for me I will wait and go mid week the following week.

Have fun
Troy

..

Troy,
even with all the boats - it's worth it, great crabbing and good to hook up with friends as well

Thanks all! It looks like the cub scouts have dropped me in to the epicenter of crabbing for opening day!!!! I'll likely see some of you out there. Another one of the cub scout dad's may bring his boat... a row boat with a small motor on it! (I think).
