whats up fellas?
well on the water at 7 am after waking up a 5.30 started by trolling a fire tiger broken back rebel and a 1/4 ounce silver cast mast trolled around the island and halfmoon bay till about 12.30 with not even a bite i did see a guy from shore catch a few and a few guys trolling get some but no love for me  :smt010 i then switched up the lure to a spoon and a larger cast master still trolling till about 5pm and still not even a bite  :smt013, i was not going home without a fish after waking up so early but i was to tired from paddling all day si i started flylineing a night crawler around the island after about a half hour i get a solid bite set the hook and this fish starts peeling line :smt007 felt like a big cat the out of nowere POP AND ITS GONE :smt013 that really hurt my only bite of the day and i lost it :smt010 so the i see trout jumping clear out of the water closer to launch so i paddled over in the middle where i had just seen a few trout fly out of the water i throw out my ulta light with 4 pound test with a size 10 baitholder hook and a half a crawler feed it line so it hits the bottom then i begin to throw a cast master at the jumping trout after about 30 min. i get a tap tap :smt001, feed it line felt the fish and SET THE HOOK, FISH ON!!! this thing starts screaming line zzzzzzzzzzzz         zzzzzzzzzzzz             zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i start to get some line back and it make another good run to the bottom well we battled for at least 15 minutes after about 5 minute a crowed gathered by the shore watching the battle finally after 15 min the fish comes up and its a nice 10 pound catfish, but the i realize opps i forgot my net so i tire him out a little more grab him by the tail and in the yak   :smt001 !!!!!!!!!!!!! and then i hear the crowed cheer so i hold up my trophy to show it off then its followed by ooo  awww . by now its 7 pm thats 12 hours of fishing so i paddled in and called it a day. when i started unloading my yak i asked someone to snap a pic of me and my fish but my camera sucks andit came out all black cause by then the sun was going down. im just glad i didn't get skunked!!!! and  what a battle that made it worth spending all day in my yak!!!

10lbs!  Nice cat!

I rolled in all lazy at the crack of noon and went for the cove where the big tree with all the grunting birds are...  past the island.  Got a trout hookup trolling a super duper but he came off after going airborn a few times.  Rusty hook from catching smelt in saltwater!

I'm glad you did better than me, and I can't believe I didn't see you.

That place sure is packed out on weekends!

i was keeping an eye for kayakers but only saw people with rented one and no one fishing from one i did see someone fishing from a green sot he said he lost a dink trout trolling and that was it. the lake does get crazy on the weakends if the weathers nice so i normally try to hit it on the weekdays but all in all it was a nice day

That was probably me...  white Tshirt, tan baseball cap, cop shades?  The fish I lost looked about 12" or so, but was spunky!

Those 12 hours of paying dues will wear off and you'll be left with the catfish memory always.
Way to hang in there!!

Way to stick with it and nice cat.  :smt003 Lake Chabot can be tough and I have been skunked there a couple of times. It's not easy but trolling smaller lures like rainbow runners behing flashers on a downrigger in Halfmoon bay can be productive but you need a FF since the bottom has a lot of a variability. For some reason, bait (crawlers, powerbait) many times seems to be more effective at LC compared to artificials, IMO.

Good Report and GOT CAT!  better than gettin DOGG'D!  that lake looks fishy everywhere....but it can be very tough(i know). You put in the time there and need to go back,to get some return on your investment soon. I bet cha it pays off for you.  I'll be fishin it when the weather gets colder and the bass get hungrier and into the tullies(i hope) and the BIG UGLY TROUT get planted. It's only 30min away from me.
Thanks for the story and GO BACK to COLLECT NOW!

i've done my best and seen others pulling bass from the tullies all along that area to the left of raccoon pt/honker bay(after launch go to the right, you will see it.  senko, senko and then try some senkos. put em' right up into the tullie line.Look for openings and holes, it gets deep along that stretch.

Hook em HARD!

FYI.......did you see the post for Fishin and Chillin @ Del Valle for FRI-SAT-SUN get together?  you could test some yaks out.

Hey Jason

If you're free on Friday why not just travel a few miles to Lake Delvalle in Livermore and meet your fellow NCKAers.  I'm sure someone's got an extra yak to loan you  :smt001
