Hi new here from western South Dakota.  Mostly fish local lakes for lake trout and warmer water species.  Looking to learn more about salmon fishing from kayak we have salmon fishery on lake Oahe but it's a large often windy reservoir which I don't think gets many kayak fishermen.
Thanks!

Welcome!

I now live in the hills near Santa Cruz and I mostly fish in the Monterey Bay. I have a Hobie Adventure Island (AI, for short) and I usually sail-troll. I’m not a salmon specialist, but I’ve caught a few.

I was raised in western Iowa, and we frequently vacationed at the South Dakota “Great Lakes” on the Missouri River—mostly Gavins Point and Fort Randall, but we did make a few trips to Big Bend and Oahe (and we even made it to Garrison and Fort Peck). My brother lives in Omaha, and he takes a couple of trips each year to Fort Randall to fish for smallmouth.

It’s actually on my bucket list to take my AI to Oahe and fish for salmon. I’ve read everything I can find on the topic and watched all of the YouTube videos. So, I’d be very interested in hearing about any salmon fishing you do at Oahe.
