Hey everyone,

Irwin here coming out of Stockton. Have been fishing here and there for some years tried kayak fishing in the bay but needed a more comfortable kayak or get in better shape lol. Work and life get in the way but I try to make it out to the Delta or near the 12 every other week. Always looking for any new cool spots or any leads on bigger kayaks.

Thanks
Deltadog

First, welcome to the NCKA community!   :smt006

Tell us more about your first experience, and your goals for kayak fishing.  What kind of yak did you first try?  What made you feel uncomfortable?  There are unlimited options to suit individual needs, but start with what your goals are and go from there.

Most peoples first time in a kayak makes them want for a bigger and more stable kayak, because they didn't want to feel uncomfortable.  There are trade offs for all configurations of kayaks, you can think of them like wider is more stable, longer is faster, bigger is heavier, heavier is harder to turn, or wider and higher mean it catches the wind more.  Think of what you want to catch, where you want to launch, how you will get your kayak to the water, etc, etc.  Then buy a Hobie  :smt005

hey everyone Derek here , just joining up looking for buddies to fish with . Ive hd wilderness tarpon for years . Fast but not too stable. Recently acquired a hobie outback and ive been out to oyster point 38 inch Halibut PB and out of moss landing . I just found (A) dock in santa cruz and ill check that out Saturday . I trailer it so launch points to accept trailer parking is kinda needed .I live in south san jose and looking for advice regarding "seas and wind" to go or no go etc . So happy to have the outback Whoo Hoo !!
looking forward to the experience and people interested in getting out there.
Thank You
drlarrybrn (Derek)

If your going to trailer you might as well use the main launch ramp for put in since you will need to pay for parking. The A dock in SC is a hand launch dock and close to street parking.
