Had to let my PB settle (41.5 inches 24#s after bleeding 🩸)into my bones, went out on my bday 2 days earlier and only managed 1 grassy! But 2 days later 🔥

Monday 7/31 no peeps in sight the ocean to myself made my way to the spot and commenced fishing in about 20 FOW using herring with a glow hoochie (white) immediately I feel the tug and game on-bring it to the net, bleed it, game clip-bag it… 30 inch halibut score!!!  10 minutes later Bam and I can tell this is a big one makes a run underneath my kayak. My heart is pumping I fight it for around 10 minutes I slowly bring it up, and when I see it, my hands start shaking, and I was hesitant to bring it into the net And deal with it on board, but made the move head into the net yanked it up and it effing exploded almost knocked me off my kayak, but I held on, hands shaking. I carefully bleed it in the net immediately attach my large game clip and now I’m trying to figure out what I’m gonna do with it. It’s so big there’s no room on my kayak and the winds come up. I’ve got so much fish I don’t know what to do so I tie a rope to the clip, double cliped-it and start the 2 mile-slog into the wind back to the launch. Unbelievable incredible what a feeling!!! my hearts pumping just writing about it 😂

Took a few days to recover, but went out yesterday and perfect conditions saw limits being caught all around me, but yesterday was not my day for halibut…. Wind was forecasted light breeze, 10+ knots but it was more like 15 to Gusts to 25 on the way back… but I did score 2 blacks the largest 22.5 inches 6 1/2 pounds thought it was a halibut or a big ling!!! The way it fought!!! I bag them and paddle/bixby it my way back, took a couple hours in the headwind, but it was a satisfying day. I’m feeling it today.

Now you go and GetSome

Ps shred posted up my big Hali, he mentioned the other day Thanks Shred your a Brudda from another mother!!! I haven’t seen it yet…

That's amazing. I haven't had a bite fishing for halibut off Doran, but admittedly it's usually during crab season. Hmmm.

That's a toad, Sledge!  You are the man!

Getting it in a net is a big deal.  After my years of preaching the big net and not having gaffed anything in literally 20 years or so, I got worked over by a big Cali last Fall that turned my net over and flew away.  I'm a gaff guy for a big one now!   :smt005
