Greetings All,
I'm a retired guy. Just relocated to Sonoma County wanting to check out your rich Nor Cal fishing grounds for the first time!

I started out Surf Fishing off the Carlsbad beaches. Bought an inexpensive kayak and was launching thru the surf to fish there, and occasionally went to the more peaceful launching of La Jolla Cove. Surf launches were way to rough.

So I bought a 21' Grady White and stormed So Cal waters for the local Tuna, Bass, Halibut, etc. Had it for 6-7 years. Couldn't maintain it alone and had to sell it.

I currently typically take 1-4 one-day stand-up charters out of Seaforth in Mission Bay.

Would like to find out if there are other old big guys like me who can still manage Kayak fishing and where they like to go for easy launching? Would also be interested in any stand-up charters and landing recommendations.  I hear the tuna move in close in September.

Look forward to your input! Thanks for having me.
Hugh

Hi Hugh, welcome aboard! Lots of good easy launch points in the bay and delta for halibuts and stripers - plenty of boat ramps that you back your vehicle down to unload/load.  Less easy launches on the coast - all the ramps are in the harbors. Plenty of beaches, but they all pose unique challenges to launch. Lots of good info on the site here, and lots of helpful folks.  Welcome!

Welcome, Hugh

Sonoma County has many excellent kayak fishing locations.  I just returned from a day trip to Fort Ross today with limits of lingcod and rockfish.
If surf launching is an issue, you might consider getting a Stealth Kayak for easy launching and landing.
