My name is Zack, I'm new to the forum. I currently have a fish camp in a remote town 75 miles west of Juneau called Elfin Cove. Next season I plan to branch into providing kayak fishing trips to pair with the lodging and fish processing operation. Our town now has regular transportation to and from Juneau which makes the trips out here very streamlined. I wanted to get a gauge on the overall interest in a trip like this if it were in a 4 day 5 night set up. We are not a regular fishing lodge as my current clients process their own fish(you have the option for us to do it as well) and bring their own provisions (I help set this up so you have an easy way to get goods in Juneau) if they don't purchase them from our general store in town. I know this is a quick overview, but wanted to get some initial feedback. Thank you

Interested. Would you say that because your operation encourages folks to process their own fish and bring in their own supplies that it is cheaper than some other lodges?

Aloha,

Yes, it would be cheaper being that we aren't providing meals, all of our cabins have kitchens so it allows guests to have their experience on their time. As far as the fish processing, that cuts some of the cost as well, what we provide are freezers, chamber vac sealer and boxing for your fish.

We are a 3 hour ferry from Juneau or a 30 minute seaplane flight.

looks amazing, and looks like the prices are super reasonable. How safe is kayak fishing up there? I know tides are a huge deal and that makes being on the water in a smaller vessel much more challenging. Is there access to halibut/ling/salmon grounds for a kayak? Selfish question, is there childcare in elfin cove?

aloha,

Isao

I'm into it. I did some guiding out of Whittier back in the day, and been through the inside passage a few times. Elfin cove sounds familiar.

I'm assuming standard rockfish, maybe halibut? what are salmon chances?
