The Fort 6/21/24

Hooked up with KayakJack to fish FR and bumped into moo moo and Nando at the bottom of the hill “unloading” area chatted for a bit-after hearing the launch looked good started the adventures…

Moo moo/Nando headed NW jack and I fished just south of the launch and I was immediately rewarded with about a 28 inch ling on a split tail, scampi, hot pink!!! Hooked another shaker lingcod, while jack was busy catching gopher after gopher after gopher, Mr. gopher king! Bite sort of slowed so we headed off to the pinnacles. That’s a good little paddle and if you catch it wrong it’s a beast coming back when the wind comes up!!! but with the seas being confused, we fished it for an hour or so, and then started heading back, I’ll have to say KayakJack Was the hot stick!!! I fished plastics all morning and switched to chovies at the last, and picked up a gopher!!!


With it being nothing but windy days all spring it felt wonderful to be on the water with a good friend fishing familiar waters!!!


After being on the water for hours, getting up out of my kayak, my back went off!!!  Moo moo and Nando helped me drag my kayak up the beach. Thank you boys. Probably shouldn’t be fishing, im having an MRI done on my back next week. Sucks getting old!!! LOL

After a fillet session, Jack whipped out his BBQ and we had some choice sausages with grilled buns, not fish tacos, but delicious!  Thanks for cooking it up Jack!!!

Let Jack tell his story he did Very well but you wouldn’t know it talking to him!!!

Good seeing you and Kayakjack out there

It was great to fish with you again Sledge. it had been too long. I can confidently confirm that the gopher population at ft ross is thriving. I did also catch a chunky cab and a 24inch ling. Weather was sweet, excellent day.

Like seeing this dynamic duo back in action together!  Ling tacos with friends sounds like the best thing ever right now.

Yeah right? Been awhile lol… couple of weeks ago I was eyebawling Trinidad because of the WX on Windy, it was solid green!!! Still wanting to do the Bay halibut gig. Nice report by the way most excellent!!!  See ya OTW sometime Eric
