Quick report on a failed halibut day. Got to the launch 6:15 and took the yak off the van and started to set up when I noticed a very distraught gent with PB and trailer a couple spaces over. He had come early, said a 5 hour drive, and spent part of the night in the lot. He mentioned a couple cars spending the night close to him and thought nothing of it. In the morning he checks his boat and finds his five rods and reels gone. Goddamn low life's . They had built a fire next to the curb on the parking lot  right by the dry grass. I've never had trouble at Miller's but this event is a heads up for us.
As for fishing. Saw one caught early. I worked a big area for naught other than three bat rays. One I fought and towed to shore to get my favorite swim bait, a six fish catcher this year. Actually, it towed me from marker 7 halfway to White Gulch and I then towed it till I could get out of the kayak and wrassle it ashore and retrieve my jig. Back to Hog and get one takedown with didn't stick. Then another bat ray, smaller, that I bring to to kayak and unhook. Not long after another bat ray which I said the hell with it and broke off. Fished another half hour for nada and left. If I had wanted to stay a few more hours maybe I would have caught but enough is enough.

Tbay is hard. Beautiful float, unpredictable productivity. Part of me would take a skunk at Tbay over a limit at OP or Alemeda. The other part of me likes fish for dinner.

Those mud Marlins put up great fights.  Thanks for the report and pictures Charles.

Massive bummah' bout da rods and reels.  I hope they pay with a life of fear...

Charles, I highly appreciate your skunk reports and your slay reports.  If I may thread jack from Monday...

Was gonna do the Marshall to Hog early drift for a wsb and bailed on my self.  Launched from Nick's at 7.  Straight out tons of sardines splashing the surface.  10 boats 3 yaks.  Scant if any fish.  One 29" landed by a boat south of buoy on a dead smelt.  12-12:30.  I got a good take down if front of beach north of Pelican Point that didn't stick.  I was drifting two live smelt while throwing a swimbait for most of the time.  Hanging mostly in the bait area south of hog.  Finally I paddled north of hog to catch a final drift back and still nadaville.  If I had time I'd fish that weak tide starting a 4 but the wind, oh the wind.  This Friday I hope to do the long haul from Marshall to hog and back.  Haircuts at 3.  Hope to bump into you and Norm if it is good on the timing.  Thanks again. :smt006

Might do a little thread jack myself....decided to try Marshall on Saturday instead of Hog and it paid off. Not a lot of traffic and water was around 62. Ran into some yakkers and spoke to a guy who hit limit quick with the outgoing. Spent a decent amount trying to find bait which was scarce. A few nice smelt and a few jumbos. Also caught two nice sized macks but one of them jumped free as I was getting it in the well. Drifted the Houses for not much luck before deciding to rig the mack. As predicted within a few minutes....shark. Was fishing two rods and decided what the hell, let's put a jumbo smelt on one. Wasn't out for more than ten minutes before fish on. Ended up with a nice fat little 29incher. This was around incoming in front the houses. Paddled down to south end of Marshall and put on another jumbo smelt resulting in another lil fattie 27'. Good luck down in Marshall Edddie and maybe try a couple jumbos
