Last season with all the rain we got there was a day I was out in the south delta and found myself 2-3 miles from the marina in a very fast flowing head on current due to the amount of water that was moving through the system with tidal changes.  I made it back safely after a very tiring 2 hour pedal, but would like to avoid this happening again and I'm struggling to find a good resource of river flow numbers for the various parts of the California delta.

Does anyone have a good website that illustrates the expected flow direction and volume for various parts of the delta throughout the day?  For now I'm using tide charts to try to as best as I can to follow the tides out and ride them back in, but knowing the flow will help me be more confident when I may have to fight the tides some days.

Thanks!

This site isn't specific to the Delta, but it gives flows for all drainages and is constantly updated.  I use it a lot.

The small tidal and current booklets you can get at any marine store has current prediction maps at the end and can be useful. There is also “bay currents” app and I’m sure others that simulate current data if this is what you are after
