I have an Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro.  The rubber gasket is separating from the boat and the hatch cover.  I found a  recommendation to glue it back in place with silicone adhesive.  I tried Devcon Silicone Adhesive, but it didn't work well and the hatch has seperated again after several fishing trips.

Any advise or recommendations?  (Please excuse me if this topic has been discussed before, I new to this site.)

I Googled Lexel (I've never heard of it.) and apparently it's a new, silicone like adhesive sealant that has better adhesive qualities that silicone.  Sounds like just the thing to use.  Thanks for the tip, agarcia.

Mooch, I'll wait to see what your sources say.  A kayak shop should know what will work, too.  Thanks.

Lexel is the shizzle. Do a search on it over on the kayakfishingstuff.com forums, and you'll see that it is definitely dealer approved.

Is it Lexal or lexel.....Aquan uses this for their kayak repairs as well. They don't have it in stock but I will ask when they'll get 'em back in the shelf.

I did the seals on my SP (both hatches) a few years ago with marine goop a few years ago and it worked fine.  Coated A and B sides and let it dry like contact cement for about 15 minutes.  Then just pressed the seal to the hatch cover.  I like goop.  You can thin it with toluene to make it more brushable.

I think I'll try the Lexel by Sashco.  To find out where it is sold, go to www.sashco.com and look for home improvement sealants, then Lexel.  You can also find out what stores in your area sell it.

Thanks for the excellent info.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Home Depot or probably any hardware store carries Lexel.
