Kayak fished Salt Point for the opener on Friday-

Foggy, very little breeze, very little current, moderate swell.  Water was clear and warm to the outside.

Out from Gerstle and to the right in about 60-80 ft.  3 very large vermillions (8 lb), 20 lb ling --YYEEEHAW!!  All on 3 oz leadhead with rootbeer swimbait.  Wasn't a wide open bite but it was tons of fun.

There are some big fish out there!

I am indeed fishing the lingcod tournament and now I need to figure out how to post the picture just so I can have my name flash across on that cool leaderboard strip...

Salt point is just a bit north of fort ross.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
