I figured NorCal was Northern California, not seeing a distinction. Is there or should there be a Northern California Kayak Angling group? And if so should they also use NCKA as an abbreviation?

You guys probably don’t understand the history.  In 15+ years of running this site, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve heard it referred to as Northern California.  Are the new guys calling it this now?

I saw it on TV that they are preferring NorCal as Northern California!

Dude.
San Francisco is northern california...take it from a born and bred San Franciscan. Northern Californians are the ones whose water all gets shipped south to grow grass and fill pools in the fucking desert.   :smt003

This group is NorCal kayak anglers

Don't know who Northern California kayak anglers are, don't care what Google says.

Not here to change the name of Ncka

Just 3 examples. I have sported a Ncka sticker since 2005.

As far as the water situation, that's a no brainer.

Dfw considers our area , central  :smt005

None of them make a difference to me. I just fish, dude.

If NorCal doesn’t stand for Northern California what does it stand for? And if it stands for something else why is the AOTY limited to Northern California?

“Waterway Rule - All fish entered must be caught within the northern and eastern California borders (the entire waters of Lake Tahoe and Topaz Lake are allowed) and north of the southern borders of the following counties: Monterey, Kings, Tulare and Inyo. Fish caught from waterways with restricted access to the public, such as members-only or private waterways or aquaculture operations are not allowed. Fish caught from waters where anglers have to pay on a per fish basis, such as trout farms, are not allowed.”

The site is NorCal Kayak Anglers, or NCKA.  We are based in Northern California.  This site URL is norcalkayakanglers.com, not northerncaliforniakayakanglers.com.

Please don’t refer to it as Northern California Kayak Anglers when interacting with other organizations.  If we’re confused, imagine how confused they are.  You are only diluting the “brand”.
