Mr. X..... Great minds think alike.  I've been looking at those interesting kite reels for some time now to try for handlining fish and especially for catching bait and managing those damn sabiki rigs.  Anyways, I just now ordered one on Amazon and it'll be here tomorrow.  I hope it can handle a big fish.  If not,  I'll be returning it for sure.  I'll definitely be bringing my trusty old school handlines as back-up.

I'm looking forward to coming back and defending my title  :smt047... but mostly looking forward to the fun and company which is all that really matters!!!

Thanks Glen for reviving the event.  It'll be a blast .... and the more the merrier!!

I'll be there even if I don't bring my kayak to see some some of my NCKA family.

I have a Tarpon 160 you can borrow/test drive here in the East Bay if you don't want to transport your kayak so far.   :smt001  :smt006

Thanks Tsuri, I appreciate the kind offer.  I probably can't stay upright in the 160 at the moment, regained too much weight.  I am working hard to loose it again this year though.

Shucks we'll see you there!

So I have I a question, I know this is a casual event but Glen is it acceptable to catch bait from the kayak with a conventional rod and reel and then transfer it to the hand line or do we need to fish exclusively with a hand line in order to be eligible to win all the glory?

Reliable sources reported a big improvement in the halibut and striper action ARW.  At least two 30 plus inch butts were caught from shore the other day.  I'm predicting that the winning handline fish will be over 34" which will be way bigger the 1st place fish I caught for TLA's 2023 ARW King of the Wall tournament. :smt003

Sorry; can not have a rod and/or Reel (spinning or conventional) on board the kayak.

I'm using a handline reel to catch bait, if needed.

Sorry I couldn’t make it out this morning bros. I got my very first gout attacked yesterday and I couldn’t walk. I am still struggling to get around the house. I hope you all catch some monster halibut and I can’t wait for your fishing report. Please share a bunch of pictures.
