20-Fathom Rockfish Conservation Area Boundary Line - Public Comment

CDFW is seeking public comments on their proposed 20-fathom Rockfish Conservation Area (RCA) boundary line.
This doesn't mean we are going to get our full season back.  We might get only 1/2 of our previous season.

or that part of the season would be 0 fathom and part 20 fathom?

why not make descenders a requirement?

I think this is a great idea, but anglers will still potentially encounter quillbacks btwn 18-20 fathoms. They already have the coords for the 120ft line, so I would suggest that as the RCA instead of the 20-fathom line. Either way, I support it. Thank you.

CDFW’s current thinking is there will be times of the year when the offshore only (seaward of 50 fm fishery) would operate and times when a nearshore only (shoreward of 20 fm) fishery would be in effect.
Which means we might get 50% of the rockfishing season.  If our Non-Motorized Vessel petition gets approval, we might get the full season.

CDFW is likely to require a descender for the next season.   

Still a long battle ahead.

We need more people to be show up for the meeting on the 14th either via zoom or in person. If you don’t want to speak, you can cede your time to one of us so that we can get more time to cover our points. But we need to keep the pressure on so that hopefully we can get the no-motorized exception to extend the season to match the deep water season.

I will be reviewing 20F line at my favorite RF destinations, Fort Ross and Russian Gulch.
If any of you guys have comments about these locations, please let me know.
I can compile comments together, and we can submit them together.

Based on my preliminary review, RG looks good, but RF will require some modification.

1.   Add CDFW waypoints near your favorite destination to Navionics/Google Earth/Fish Finder. (you only need 2 to 3 waypoints to cover a location) https://youtu.be/_0NAVJndyto?si=fNRtQMqDW2Mofb0B
2.   Create a Route Manually by selecting added waypoints and save
3.   You can view Route and see if your rockfishing spots are covered.

there are some free converters (I used them ~ 10 years ago, forget the names) that will convert a file full of waypoints to different versions.

does the file generate the 20fathom/120' line? or specific waypoints shoreward of the 120' line?
