Just learn how to fish them in Oregon where the limit is 25 per day.

I think if they were temporary to alleviate undo pressure on a fishery, that it shouldn't just become the new standard.  It should be another emergceny closure, maybe enacted earlier, but not permanent.

Here are my thoughts…

I think halibut should require a report card and tags. Limit to 1 a week with 10 tags per year.

Barbless single hook with artificial only.

That way there will be halibut left for people who have limited fishing opportunities.

And 10 per year is plenty of meat!

Halibut limit decreased because no salmon and limited rockfish increasing pressure.

Almost certainly no salmon next year.
Sturgeon curtailed and possible closure incoming
Nearshore rockfish will HOPEFULLY be April 1 - Mid August next year (based on PFMC projected values used)

Why increase halibut limit again? I support an extension to 2 fish limit because personally I would rather keep 2 fish forever than have to sit through a halibut closure in the future. Especially paired with a salmon and rockfish closure

I asked a game warden last week about Salmon season in Monterey Bay and he said it still be closed next year.   Hopefully it'll be open again in 2025.

That’ll never work, as I’d have to fish more days than there are in a year…

Ooo edgy!! Between Brie (Da General) and I we keep probably 15-20 Hali per year and its more than enough for the two of us, our neighbors, and friends. Still some in the freezer if I recall. Barbless single though... and no bait... that would be a tough pill to swallow. But given that shakers love a good deepthroated chovie, sometimes resulting in a gut-hooked treble, it isn't the worst idea.
