Crab Hoop Net Service Interval Regulation?

I watched a combo party boat using hoop nets (Oakland Anglers II).  I think their soaking time would be longer than 2 hours.  Did the Service Interval period change recently?

"Service Interval (statewide): Hoop nets must be serviced every 2 hours; it is unlawful to abandon or leave unchecked a hoop net for more than 2 hours. Any hoop net left unchecked or abandoned for more than 2 hours may be seized."

No change.. CCR 14 § 29.80(b)(3) still states:

It is unlawful to abandon or leave unchecked a hoop net for more than 2 hours. Any hoop net left unchecked for more than 2 hours shall be considered abandoned and may be seized by any person authorized to enforce these regulations.

Keep in mind "may" is the language used on seizure, not "shall."  This means that even if reported and responded to, the warden will have discretion on whether to seize gear or not.

Looks like we are stuck using them again this year...
