Rod mount ideas for inflatable yak

I’d like to add one or two mounts for a rod holder on the sides of my Hobie i11s. I have a crate with tubes behind but want to be able to troll hands-free on either side. I assume there is a glue on version and am not sure 8 want to invest in a rail on both sides. The alternative seems to be a plastic board across the boat but that seems clumsy with a pedal yak.

Your thoughts?

Looks to me the sturdiest thing on that rig is the seat frame. Have you considered trying to mount something to the front part of the seat frame that could fit under your thighs while peddling? I’ve never been on the inflatable, but seems plausible

If you can strap your current crate down snug on all four corners, you can add a couple of Scotty mounts to each side of the crate by sandwiching pieces of plywood or cutting board bolted together and use that as mounting points.

Nice. I’m not sure that will work on the Hobie seat.

After discussion with Harley at CCK I’ve decided to make a 8x36” x 11/2” plastic plate to strap across the boat. My dimensions are based on the plastic I had on hand. I will photograph this once I test it.

I’ve mounted a Ram base on it.
