I launched around 730 this morning from the coast guard pier. I didn’t paddle very far today, all fishing was done within a quarter mile or so of the coast guard. I got into sardines and smelt for bait. The smelt were everywhere, the sardines not so much. I got my first halibut, a nice 38”, around 9 on a medium sized smelt. Got the second at 1030 on a sardine. Second hali was released. I didn’t measure it but it was definitely legal, probably around 24”. Both fish were caught in 75ish feet of water. Also caught a few small lings and a nice sized soupfin which put up a great fight on 25lb. I got sawed off another 3-4 times on what I’m assuming were soupfins throughout the day. Got off the water at 1.

Nice work. Great that the bait was close and definitely proved productive.

You've been killing it in Monterey as well as a few others.
