The local California indigenous situations are pretty interesting and mostly invisible to the rest of us

During the MLPA process I was up at Albion interviewing people at the saving seafood festival/protest. Best part of the experience was meeting folks from the Kashia-Pomo who were trying to retain seafood harvest rights at a spot they’d been at it for thousands of years. At the time Packard et al were intent on shutting them out but I think they may have won something back not sure. I should call up there to see how it all shook out

Another interview was with a local harbormaster who was advocating on their behalf. I need to dig those out and have another look
