My first thought was a fisherman on the west side of the 50 Fathom Line.  After reading the article, tip of the cap to this ocean kayaker for taking on major paddles.  However, a paddling partner most likely would made this a non-story.

I'm really happy this had a happy ending but what was that guy thinking heading that far offshore without a buddy and an inability to get back in his kayak under the expected conditions. Based on the pictures in the news item, it looked like it was a nice day. Lucky he had cell service. Another reminder to practice self recovery under appropriate conditions.
