Hi folks,

anyone have any first hand experience you can share for San Simeon, or Leffingwell for either Shore fishing, Pier fishing or Kayak?

Camping down there next weekend, and looking for any first hand experience folks care to share.

Thanks,
Brian.

Piece of cake.  :smt005

One of the best experiences i ever had, despite the landing conditions. ( that day ) Really loved the 'Cambria Slam"  until they moved the festivities to the camp ground closer to Morro bay. Chorro campground. No trees/ shade in a good part of the campground. Maybe different now. Been a long time since i have been that way.

If you are camping their in San Simeon?  :smt023

Ricci Chavez won the Turney 2 yrs in a row. Funny thing was the first year he won he had forgotten his tackle box. People gifted him all kinds of gear and he won the turney.  :smt005

I got to experience all these great landings. I was lucky enough to survive a beach swell that pushed me a good 40 ft. Never forget it.

I was lucky enough to make the cut at 6:52.  :smt005 :smt005

One of the best moments was when i witnessed, "Cochino" run over his dad, "Fishmaster1". Good times !!!!

Was at Leffingwell this last weekend. Surf and weather was perfect. One of my go to places. Check out Cambria surf report for weather report.

great feedback guys - thanks.  Have to admit, I liked the quote above best - just seems like that's the way it should be!
I'll let you know how it goes.  May end up just hitting the pier, but hopefully get out one morning on the yak.

Good luck Brian.

Hope the water conditions work out for you. I would float a squid near the kelp beds. May get lucky and find a seabass.

If you happen to have heard, Ritchie talk about his win? All his fish came from around 20 ft. Funny, because most everyone ran out to deep water. Ha!

Thanks Guys.
we're camping at San Simeon Washburn Campground - state park, about 1 mile north of Leffingwell.  Going with a bunch of 'campers' maybe one other guy that is looking to Pier fish.

Elena and I will definitely try pier fishing (she doesn't need a license, and when we did this a Ocean Beach - we both had a kick catching mackerel)

I'm hoping to head out one morning and give the kayak a try.  Live events have been keeping me away from the salt.

If you do go out with a kayak take the ramp down to the water. Look to your left(south) you should see two rock formations (Cambria Rock) good spot to fish.

Saturday looks doable. Looks like winds may pick up on Sunday. At least from what willyweather.com shows. Windy.com shows a little breezier at up to 14mph. Either way. San Simeon and Morro bay is a great place to visit. Solvang for some good eats.
